EXAM PREP CLASSES
Our Exam Prep Classes allow children to interact with others whilst learning at their own pace.
Our sessions are welcoming and encouraging; the atmosphere is one of enthusiasm, positivity and determination. We pride ourselves on providing comprehensive programmes of study covering material which schools are not always able to cover in-depth due to time constraints.
What our Exam Prep Classes offer:
- Our fundamental aim is to develop enthusiasm, confidence and independence in all our students.
- Our sessions are small and welcoming. ( 4 – 8 children)
- We ensure that each child gets some one-to-one (1-2-1) time with the tutor in every lesson.

Classes range from Creative Writing, 11+ or 7+ preparation, Phonics, French or Maths Booster sessions. You can request anything else you feel your child needs.

11+ Creative Writing
Dates: 26th – 30th May 2025

Time: 9.30am – 11am (90 minutes a day for 5 days)
Age: 9 – 11 year olds (Children in Year 5 and 6)
Class Size: 4 – 8 children

Course Outline This course will cover understanding and answering questions, planning and timing, descriptive writing, bringing a character to life, sentence variations, tenses- past and present, punctuation, different writing types such as stories, diary entries and letters, vocabulary extension and imagery such as metaphors, similes, alliteration, personification and onomatopoeia.
Children will be given a workbook to use throughout the course, model answers and a short homework task. Homework is sent via email and marked within 2 working days. Children will receive an annotated copy of their homework with feedback.
11+ Comprehension and Verbal Reasoning

Time: 11.30am – 1pm (90 minutes a day for 5 days)
Age: 9 – 11 year olds (Children in Year 5 and 6)
Class Size: 4 – 8 children

Course Outline Comprehension means to comprehend. Children will therefore learn to understand, infer and give long and short answers with evidence from the text. They will have the opportunity to look at different text types from poems, a passage from a book, letters and recounts. This course also includes spelling, punctuation and grammar as well as verbal reasoning skills.
Children will be given a workbook to use throughout the course, model answers and a short homework task. Homework is sent via email and marked within 2 working days. Children will receive an annotated copy of their homework with feedback.
