What is an Educational Consultant?
An Educational consultant is an advisor who can help families with educational planning for primary, secondary and even university. As an educational consultant I work with both independent and state school students. With my extensive experience in learning, teaching and assessments I support and advise families with decisions regarding their children’s educational journey. This includes 7+ and 11+ exams, special educational needs and disabilities, assessments, mentoring support and finding the best schools. We focus on academic achievement, location, SEND provision, Pastoral and Mental Health Support and Extra-curricular Activities
Why should I hire an Education Consultant?
It is common to feel overwhelmed and confused with the British Education System. Choices you make about your children’s education are important but they can also be stressful and difficult. Educational consultants, therefore, can relieve the pressure and can be as involved as you want. From sitting down with you and your child to discuss options, to managing an entire admissions process. They understand schools. Their culture, values and the support they can provide from mental health and emotional needs, to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Consultants have an insight into the application process, funding opportunities and they can provide the much needed support to manage transitions.
When should I hire an Education Consultant?
The admissions process depends on individual schools and your child’s age. There is also the question of timing. For your child to sit the 7+ exam, you would need to start the admissions process at least a year or more earlier, when your child is in year 1. For the 11+, however, preparation would need to start at least 2 years earlier when your child is in Year 4. A consultant can support you if you are thinking of relocating to the UK and you are unsure about what you want for your children’s education. You may need help understanding the education system, support with your school search or whether to put your child forward for the 7+ or 11+.
