11 plus preparation course / workshop for children in year 5 and 6

11+ Entrance Exam Guidance

The 11+ entrance exam preparation process can feel overwhelming for you and your children.

Schools don’t cover all the subjects. Whilst Maths and English are part of the National Curriculum the 11+ requires Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning which are not covered in primary schools. Therefore to perform well children should get exposure to these subjects early. Our online 11+ course ensure children can develop confidence and become familiar with these subjects through daily practice and targeted learning.

Private tutoring provides valuable benefits from developing subject knowledge, exam techniques and boosting confidence. As a tutor I help bridge any gaps in learning, strengthen weaker areas and teach effective exam strategies which reduce anxiety.

If on the other hand you like the idea of 11+ preparation classes where you child won’t feel so alone and can meet others also taking the 11+, I am running some online 11+ preparation courses over the holiday months.

So when should your children start preparing for the 11+?                                                                                                                            Early, it is recommended that children should start preparing as early as Year 4 or as they enter Year 5. Overloading a child and last minute cramming can lead to stress, anxiety and burnout. Slow and steady wins the race. You can find out more about the 11+ here

With our Academic Assessments you can gauge where your children are at in their learning, their strengths and areas for development. You will also receive detailed feedback and a personalised learning pack.

It is worth bearing in mind that whilst passing and  achieving the qualifying score is essential, it does not automatically secure a place. Admission criteria often include catchment area, sibling priority and number of available places. Researching each school’s entry requirements thoroughly will help you make informed choices when applying.

Many factors impact a child’s chances of passing such as access to resources, individual learning styles and prior exposure to certain subjects.

I hope this post has provided you with some clarity surrounding the 11+.
